But I DID find treasures! First, some books. Can you believe I never have read Anne of Green Gables? I'm almost afraid to admit it - - for fear I'll have my Canadian citizenship revoked. For $1 I got 2 books by L. M. Montgomery, and 2 books ABOUT L. M. Montgomery.
Then, even though I PROMISED myself I wouldn't buy any more fabric - - who could resist all of this fabric -- and most of them are FQs - - for $5
HaHa! My DIL is just finishing Anne of Green Gables and is going to lend me her books. She says I must read it....and I am anxious to....I haven't read them either! I guess "better late than never!"
ReplyDeleteOh wow! I'm jealous---all that LOVELY fabric.
ReplyDeleteNice going Nancy. I see we have several of our old bloggers with us now on here. Don't forget to come to my site too.

ReplyDeleteWhat a treasure trove of fabrics. Great going!
ReplyDeleteYou couldn't NOT buy all that fabric for $5 - what a steal! And I fondly remember Anne of Green Gables. I should go back and read them again...
ReplyDeleteWell I guess seeing as you are "from away" we can forgive you for not reading Anne of Green Gables. My mom read it to me when I was about 6 and when I was 7 we drove down to visit Green Gables (from Ottawa). I started to read her journals. I found them a bit dry but between those and seeing a biography on her I can't believe she had such a difficult life.. even in adulthood. I have a set of the DVD's too. Highly recommend seeing those after you read the book. It was well cast.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Shirley, you really do need to read the Anne series. Very light summer reading; and after you do, then read Lucy Maude's journals..there are five I think; ( I am too lazy to go check my bookcase) You would never believe that something so light and "Positive" and happy could come from someone who battled depression like Lucy Maude did. Back then it was all about appearances, and she definitely put up a good "front". Definitely not as light reading, but fascinating none the less to someone who is such an avid "journal or diary" reader. Call me nosy but I love reading journals. I think I remember you talking about a womens studies class somewhere down the line...these journals would have been great reading for that and may still probably be of interest to you.
ReplyDeleteWendy
You are the queen of thrifting! I used to heard your blog where it was before, and I also switched when I could not ever get my blogs, comments, etc. to work over there. It was great to find you again!
ReplyDeletenancy,
ReplyDeleteyou will love anne, and will probably find in her a kindred spirit. you, like her, have so much scope of an imagination.....
i love seeing your thrifty finds. i also go on the hunt for treasures but do not seem to find as many of the good crafty deals that you do. i did get 2 wing back chairs though this past weekend that are done in navy ticking OMG!!! they are the cutest things ever! and only $15 each--a true score.
my eye zero-ed in on the book by cheri saffiote that you got. i have to say it is one of my very favorite books ever. i use it ALOT!

--with an e because "it makes such a difference. When you hear a name pronaounced can't you always see it in your mind, just as if it was rinted out? i can, and A-n-n looks dreadful, but A-n-n-e looks so much more distinguished. If you'll only call me Anne spelled with an e I shall try to reconcile myslef to not being called Cordelia." from anne of green gables who so greatly expressed what i have always felt about the inclusion of the "e"
you will love anne......
