I Have a New Quilty Friend!

Itty Bitty and I have wanted a cat for a long time, but I resisted. I went to the animal shelter with him a couple of times, but it was difficult to interact with the kitties, and I wanted to be absolutely certain I got a real suck of a cat.

While I was yard sale-ing this morning, I stopped at a house where they were offering a litter of kittens, free to a good home. I picked up this little guy's sister first, and carried her around while I looked at the other offerings of the yard sale. She was nice and calm at first, but then got a little skittish.

Then I picked up this fella. I flipped him over onto his back and tucked him into the crook of my arm. He snuggled in and was as relaxed as a wet dishrag. He has the loudest purr.

He doesn't have a name yet, poor thing. "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" was on the radio while I was driving him home, so I thought: oh! we'll call him George Harrison! Itty Bitty nixed that, saying Jimi Hendrix was a much better name. Then we discussed "Rufus", since he's a carrot top. Nah...that's a dog name. I'm thinking Finn, or Finnegan, or Flynn. Poor, nameless kitty.

He LOVES fabric scraps! He's been hunting fabric strings (between naps) all afternoon.

  2. Be very careful with threads around cats. Mine decided to steal a spool of thread and eat pieces of it. A $300 vet bill later, the thread was unwrapped from the back of his tongue and the vet said we were lucky it didn't wrap around his intestines. Your new baby sure is cute!

  4. He is adorable. He looks just like my red cat. We call him Robert Redford "Red". I look forward to hearing more about him. Karen

  5. Oh, what a love! He looks a bit like my Timmy. Don't worry if he goes nameless for a few days--he'll name himself before long. :)

  7. We vote for Finn, as we had a yellow boy Tabby named Evil Baby Finster, from the Bugs Bunny cartoon, called him Fin, and he was the bestest cat ever.
